Elizabeth Brown

Overview

Elizabeth joined Staffordshire Family Law in 2021. She is currently a Trainee Solicitor who will qualify into the matrimonial department, dealing with divorce and separation matters, as well as private child arrangements and injunction proceedings.

Elizabeth takes an empathetic but realistic approach with her clients, and aims to assist them in coming to terms with their issue at hand, whilst also providing pragmatic advice to obtain the most appropriate solution for their case.

 

Areas of expertise

Divorce and Financial Remedy Proceedings

Elizabeth has advised many clients on the divorce process, and has dealt with various financial issues arising on divorce including:

  • the matrimonial home
  • second properties
  • savings and shares
  • pension assets

Cohabitation Issues  

Where cohabiting parties have reached a breakdown in their relationship, Elizabeth can advise upon, and prepare, Deed of Settlements to reflect the agreement reached.

Elizabeth also advises on TOLATA and potential applications that can be made where an agreement cannot be reached between the parties in respect of their assets.

Private Child Arrangements

Elizabeth understands that private child arrangement proceedings are inevitably stressful for both parents and also the child(ren) involved, and takes the view that matters should be resolved as quickly and as amicable as possible, preferably without Court intervention where possible.

Elizabeth has advised and lodged Court applications for various child arrangements issues including:

  • relocation
  • disclosure of whereabouts
  • abduction
  • permission to take a child abroad on holiday
  • contested parental responsibility
  • name changing
  • fact finding and safeguarding issues
  • enforcement and variation of existing child arrangements orders
  • agreement of contact schedules

 

Injunction Proceedings

Elizabeth has advised clients on the availability and likelihood of securing an injunction, and the implications of the same.

Specifically, Elizabeth has dealt with the following issues:  

  • applications for non-molestation orders
  • applications for occupation orders
  • undertakings
  • making applications to discharge/vary an injunction application
  • preparing witness and supporting statements
  • finding of fact hearings
  • enforcement of an injunction order

 

Recognition

Elizabeth was awarded a 2.1 Honours Degree in Law from The University of Manchester in 2022.

Elizabeth is in the process of completing her Masters in Legal Practice with BPP University.
