Overview

Matthew Roberts is a Solicitor specialising in Family Law, advising clients on a wide range of matters arising from relationship breakdown. Matthew joined us from a large multi practice Legal Firm in the West Midlands, ranked in the top Legal 500.  He moved to Staffordshire Family Law in February 2026 and works across the Matrimonial and Children Departments.

Matthew brings a clear, methodical approach to each case. He is committed to providing practical, considered advice, with a focus on achieving fair and workable outcomes tailored to his clients’ individual circumstances. Matthew understands the sensitive nature of family law matters and strives to guide clients through the legal process with professionalism and care.

Matthew’s practice includes divorce proceedings, financial arrangements, and issues relating to children.

 

Divorce Proceedings

Matthew can advise clients on the divorce procedure, assisting them with the paperwork and guiding  them through each stage to reach the Final Order bringing the marriage to an end, as quickly and painlessly as possible.

 

Financial Remedy Proceedings

Matthew advises on all financial issues that arise on divorce. He steers clients through negotiations and where agreement is not possible, will help them navigate through the court process. Matthew undertakes much of his own advocacy within Financial Remedy Proceedings. 

Matthew also advises on financial issues between unmarried couples, where these arise upon the  breakdown of a cohabiting relationship.

 

Children Matters

Having considerable experience in dealing with Private Child Law disputes, Matthew can advise clients seeking to secure a Child Arrangement Orders, Specific Issue Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders. He also advices people receiving such applications from the other parent. He has also dealt with children disputes involving other family members such as grandparents. Matthew will represent clients at court, acting as their advocate as well as their adviser.

     

    Recognition

    Matthew graduated from Birmingham City University with First degree in Law in 2020. He completed his Legal Practice Course in Course and Masters in Law in 2021 with Distinction.

    Matthew was admitted as a Solicitor in November 2023.
